Cyberspace picketing

In "Pickets are even in cyberspace", David Sarno talks about how the internet has become a place for the extension of picket lines by helping to coordinate strike efforts. The article was written over two years ago in reference to the 2007 writers' strike, but it documents the beginnings of a trend that is even more common today. It is now normal for a protest to have a Facebook group, whether it is a labor strike, genocide awareness group, or other cause. By utilizing the largest social networking site in the world, groups can create solidarity by gaining members, update those members on the latest news, and gather them together for events and demonstrations. In addition to Facebook and Myspace groups, the writers also posted a series of online videos to Youtube which criticized the media companies. At the end of the article, there is even a short mention of a potential Facebook application where users could virtually honk their car horns for the cause.
