Google Latitude

 Google Latitude

Over a year ago, I was playing with my GoogleMaps app in my blackberry during class.  It became one of my most favorite apps ever.  GPS, Points of Interest searches, symbols for traffic, reviews of/information on restaurants/places, etc- I realized it became a part of my life.  I then became curious about the option "join latitude" and I decided to try it.

Google Latitude is a "location-aware" application that allows people to track where you are through your phone.  Shown on the google map, it's pretty much like a tracking device when you agree to its terms and join it.  All you need is a google account, and you can allow your friends/fellow google account users to follow you.  You either choose to specify your location to just a city or the exact location that you are at.  It is under your control to turn this app/permission off, but it begins to become more complex than that.

At first, I thought this application was quite interesting, and I wanted to try it out.  I invited my boyfriend at that time and a couple of my friends to join as well.  As time progressed, this app became more of burden than a convenience as my boyfriend and friends would track where exactly I am whenever they were bored or curious, and it just started to get creepy.

So my question is, is this application even useful?
