Social Networking and Privacy

http://www.nytimes.com/2010/05/09/fashion/09privacy.html?src=me&ref=general

This article from NY Times addresses the problem of privacy in social networking sites. Many facebook users, as they grow older and as they search for a job, become more and more concerned about privacy issues and begin to more self-conscious on the part of what to say, what to upload, and what to detag. This contrasts largely from the Live out Loud generation which is a generation that enjoys to share their privacy with others. Facebook and other social networking sites want to have more of user's privacy so that they could give those information to advertisement sites. Some people who are aware of privacy issues make sure that they check regularly if their private settings are enforced because sometimes the privacy settings are changed as the website evolves. This article was interesting for me since it covers a topic that we have discussed in class. It makes me ask, where do we draw the line when it comes to privacy issues? What is considered private and what is ok to be public?
