Another note on ambient awareness

http://www.time.com/time/business/article/0,8599,1902604,00.html

This article discusses the theme addressed in the beginning of the quarter of "ambient awareness". it details the actions used on twitter that provide a consistent flow of information about an individual's daily actives, experiences, and emotions. The author addresses how something that could be perceived as boring in a one on one conversation or during a phone conversation can become interesting when a part of a web of information listed on one's network. This is due to the creation of a story that people begin to follow. it also however, brings up the issue of losing closeness within friendships. individuals know information about each other without ask; one click and they are filled in with weeks and months of information. this dilutes the need for a "catch up" phone conversation or a quick coffee here and there. information established in small talk is thus no longer an active part of a conversation. One creates a sense of knowing something through knowing things about their life however they do not need to interact with these people.
