Zuckerberg on the Hot Seat by Miguel Helft

Privacy is a huge issue on facebook. Some people may and may not agree. Some people believe that the "young generation" is apathetic about privacy but that is definitely not the case. In this article, Mark Zuckerberg seems to be under the “hot seat” as he is grilled about facebook’s new privacy settings. People have a right to complain because there have been major changes recently that people do not agree with. Interestingly enough, the article itself states that even Mark’s remarks seemed contradictory to his statement: “There have been misperceptions that we are trying to make all information open … that’s completely false.” Recently facebook had made changes that users’ information would automatically link with other websites without the approval of the user. This would occur, even if the user was unaware of it at all. Then facebook, probably due to people’s protest, adjusted their privacy settings again. Mark says he is trying to simplify control settings but looking at the privacy settings now, they look even more complex. Maybe he is in over his head about facebook. He is also trying to keep facebook itself private by not taking his company public. Mark has high hopes with facebook’s future; time will tell if facebook won’t become another dead myspace.
