Half of social networkers post risky information, study finds

This article talks about a recent Consumer Report survey that found that over half of people using social networking sites put up information that could be used by cybercriminals. These details include full birthdays, or home addresses. The article suggests not posting definite plans like vacation dates, or when you will be away from home. They also are adamant that parents should not put up the names of their children anywhere. While some of these things are no doubt dangerous to post on the internet, a lot of it seems like common sense. It seems like people are creating all this fear around the internet, even though very few people will ever be targeted. The threat seems overblown to me, and if you're conscious of what you post, there shouldn't be a problem.
