Social Networking Taking Over Our Lives?

http://news.cnet.com/8301-1035_3-20006682-94.html

This article CNET News is about a study recently completed that shows social networking is "the fastest growing activity among people with smartphones and other advanced phones that offer Web browsing..." "People with Web-browsing phones are spending a lot more of their minutes accessing social networks these days...Among the nearly 73 million who used mobile browsers, 30 million jumped onto social networks through the browser--a 90 percent rise from the previous year."

I found this interesting because even when we are not near a computer people still find a way to spend time on these social networking sites such as Facebook and Twitter. By using mobile apps, people find a way to access these sites. I know this is true for myself, because when I am bored in class or out somewhere, I find myself checking my Facebook and Twitter Apps for updates. This makes me wonder how addictive social networking has become and central it has become to people's lives. How many of us can go a week, a day, let alone a couple hours without checking our favorite social networking sites?
