How Imaginative Worlds Connect With Our Own

So I saw this article, and watched the video, and made a note how its reminiscent of video games, being as all the work is being done by remote, on screens, by people who are not in the same area as the actual project itself. Then I thought about how these tech guys that actually do all the stuff must have been into video games at a younger age, and thereby have the innate skills required to manage and use the high tech equipment to stop the oil from leaking.

Then a couple of articles later, I noticed this story of how James Cameron (creator of Avatar, and director of Titanic) has been asked to help with the cleaning of the oil spill. It is very interesting because he not only has the experience of working with deep sea cameras and equipment, but also of imaginative technologies and concepts (as seen in Avatar). These two articles really provide a blending of computer world games and real world situations, and how some people are simply more in tune with this connection than others.
