News Sites Rethink Anonymous Online Comments

http://www.nytimes.com/2010/04/12/technology/12comments.html

The article talks about how news sites should re-think allowing users to post anonymous comments. The New York Times, The Post, and the Huffington Post are now forcing users to register a screen name in order to post comments. Since it is hard for news sites to police inappropriate comments, forcing users to create an alias may help solve this problem. It is interesting to read that for a long time people were able to post comments under anonimity, but now things are changing. It will be interesting to see how comments change now that a wall of anonimity is removed. A problem that arises is how truthful are the identity of some users. What is stopping a person from supplying false information to protect their identity?
