http://www.quitfacebookday.com/
This is a website dedicated to convincing people to quit facebook on the designated date, May 31st. There is an active count of how many current facebook users have pledged to quit on May 31st, and you can sign up on the spot if you so choose as well. The creators of the website list privacy options as well as the way facebook handles personal information as the main reasons for why users should quit facebook. One thing that I thought was interesting about this website was that it legitimately refers to facebooking as a type of addiction, and compares it to an addiction similar to smoking cigarettes. It offers altervatives to facebooking for the withdraw after you quit, such as twitter and alternative networking websites. It's interesting that use of a networking website can be viewed as not only an addiction, but a negative one at that. Considering that facebook still has hundreds of millions of users, I'm not sure that this website really made a strong stand against the website, but I felt the concept deserved a little attention.
